had a great time. my fiance and i went to frans the other night and had a good time. my waiter was fun and got whatever i needed. the food was great but the portions were to big, i left there really full. i would definatly go back.
LOVE this place!!. This was my fourth visit to Fran's... I heard they had the best fries in the city so I had to put them to the test! We had the "secret spicy sprinkle fries" and I would have to agree they were damn good. Our food was exceptional as well... we had the rosemary chicken, meatballs, and the ribs. Also "Chad's tropical sangria" hit the spot! I'm glad I found this place... it's my new favorite in Charlotte!!
Will never go back to Fran's.
The service we received for Friday-night dinner -- in a restaurant only half full -- was the worst I ever have had in a Charlotte restaurant... or perhaps anywhere. At one point, the waitress came over and just said, "Oh, I forgot you all"; no apology, no nothing. One of our appetizers was not brought, I had to go TO the waitress to ask for something after being unable to get her attention for a long time, and it was MORE THAN AN HOUR before we got our entrees. I would have left, but both of us were very tired and decided just to wait it out.
I am surprised at the raves about the food, because ours -- the roast beef, shrimp, polenta and snow peas -- was unmarkable. Only the mashed potatoes were worth mentioning.
Terrible service. My husband and I were so excited to check out this place. We'd heard good things. We went early last night (Friday), so the place wasn't too busy at that point. The hostess sat us and brought us water. No one ever came to our table after that. We made obvious eye contact with all of the servers (some were just standing around chatting), but still no one ever came. After 10 minutes, maybe more, we just left. The hostess didn't even acknowledge us as we walked out the door. It was very disappointing, and that's definitely behavior that will cause us to never return.
Can't wait to go back!. I visited Fran's for lunch a few weeks ago and was very happy with my meal. They have a great assortment of sandwiches made with fresh ingredients, not to mention the soup was fantastic. Our waiter Chad was spot on with every recommendation he made. Before I left, Chad told me about a few things on the dinner menu (totally different) which gave me no choice but to come back. That weekend I returned with my wife and son on a Saturday night to find a full house, after about a 30 minute wait we sat down and were pleased to find out Chad would be taking care of us. Once again all of his recommendations were incredible. He set us up with a bottle of Old Vine red blend and started us out with bacon wrapped tater tots and fried pickles. We then had rosemary chicken, slow roasted beef, and thanksgiving on a plate. And for desert we had tuxedo cake. I look forward to coming back very soon!
Casual and relaxed. My friend and I went here for lunch and had the yummy cheese/beer soup and greek wedge. We really enjoyed the wimsical atmosphere and relaxed staff. We will go back and take more friends with us.
good meatballs!!. It was my firt time to go there (obviously I am not from NC) and the location was difficult to find. (I was taking the neighborhood roads and it was dark and bad directions) anyways, so much of complaining, the food was good. The meatball was stuffed with garlic and other seasoning, not like any other regular meat balls. At first, I thought 2 meatballs ain't enough for me, but as soon as I dig'in, the flavor and the temperature along with other rich and fresh ingridients, by the time I finished the dish, I found the protion of the food was just right. The cons after all, was the long wait in after order the dish to the time when the dish to the table. I will revisit this place next time, and trying not to get lost again.
Dinner special was truly special.
I like a place where the dinner specials are truly special. Tonight I had a lamb burger with a creamy feta spread, marinated cucumbers and roasted tomatoes with harissa fried potatoes.
It was dinner like mama used to make, well maybe if you mama is from Morocco.
Bursting with flavor and juicy. Just plain delicious.
Cute, local restaurant with great food. My boyfriend and I went to Fran's on a Friday night. The atmosphere was really homey and the servers very nice. At first, we were a little confused with the menu, but the server explained it to us. We ended up getting a variety of foods, including the bacon wrapped tater tots, the Japanese ribs, the teriyaki wings, the shrimp, and a glass of wine. The flavors of the food were amazing with lots of spices and herbs...you could really taste the effort put into the food. We'll definitely be back...gotta try the Thanksgiving on a Plate...we hear it's the best!
Great menu/Great specials.
I learned about Fran's Filing Station from a friend who knew I was more interested in good food and interesting flavors than fine china and silver service. I was not disappointed. The slow roasted tomatoes had a rich and rustic taste. The hand cut french fries w/spicy sprinkle were as good as I have ever had. The server suggested their homemade Russian dressing with the fries and it was the bomb.
My guest had what she described as the best burger in town. I had a special which was a short rib sandwich with homemade tomato jam. Succulent, moist short rib meat on a roll with a sweet, tangy tomato jam with a very slight bite. It was delicious.
The place was friendly, efficient, and attended by the owner.
It ALL worked.
