Fran's Filling Station
Owner
Lots of flavor is what owner Fran Scibelli was known for at her Metropolitan Cafe years ago, and that aspect is back with Fran's Filling Station, but this time there?s more variety at this Dilworth spot. Nurturing comfort foods include the Metro meatloaf, plus a bowl of two fat meatballs in wonderful marinara, rosemary-grilled chicken breast with onion rings, "Thanksgiving on a plate" (house-roasted turkey and trimmings), and more. Plus, Fran's Filling station also offers mussels many ways, Maryland-style crab cakes, burgers, Italian beef sandwiches, Nicoise salad and truly fabulous fries,…
Casual and relaxed

My friend and I went here for lunch and had the yummy cheese/beer soup and greek wedge. We really enjoyed the wimsical atmosphere and relaxed staff. We will go back and take more friends with us.
- Pros: Nice staff, unique menu
good meatballs!!

It was my firt time to go there (obviously I am not from NC) and the location was difficult to find. (I was taking the neighborhood roads and it was dark and bad directions) anyways, so much of complaining, the food was good. The meatball was stuffed with garlic and other seasoning, not like any other regular meat balls. At first, I thought 2 meatballs ain't enough for me, but as soon as I dig'in, the flavor and the temperature along with other rich and fresh ingridients, by the time I finished the dish, I found the protion of the food was just right. The cons after all, was the long wait in after order the dish to the time when the dish to the table. I will revisit this place next time, and trying not to get lost again.
- Pros: good meat balls!
- Cons: hard-to-find location, long wait
Dinner special was truly special
by GodFatherofLunch at Citysearch
I like a place where the dinner specials are truly special. Tonight I had a lamb burger with a creamy feta spread, marinated cucumbers and roasted tomatoes with harissa fried potatoes.
It was dinner like mama used to make, well maybe if you mama is from Morocco.
Bursting with flavor and juicy. Just plain delicious.
- Pros: Where else can I go for such a cool dinner
- Cons: They are not open for breakfast
