Uptight environment, Great food, Very pricey. The food is really very good. But you definitely pay for it. The environment is polarizing. It's set up in this old shack run-down looking building, but with white table cloths and candles on the table. The manager seems very arrogant. But the server was very personable. If you sit inside the dining room, it's very very dark. You can barely see the food in front of you. But it provides more of an atmosphere if you don't mind how dark it is.

The bar area has a lot more daylight coming in which is better in my opinion.

It's a place that tries to act very ritzy but at the same time will serve you cold cheez whiz as an appetizer. You'd think for $48 for a steak they could afford to give you a little better quality than a tiny ball of cheez whiz.

But if you don't mind spending a ton of money, the taste of the food is good.

Perfect Date Night. My sister and I decided to come here for the Oysters Rockefeller. We were just blown away by the service, staff, menu and ambiance. Couldn't have asked for a better, more intimate meal.

My sister's oysters were absolutely perfect and I had the beef kabobs that I have been talking about for days. The french onion soup was perfect, and I can't wait to come back!

What Happened?. There was a time when I would have said this was one of the best restaurants in town. But no more. first of all i am a native; have lived here for over 50 years & ate here many times BUT not within the past 10 years. We were on that side of town and hungry...decided to stop in for a wonderful meal. No we did not have a reservation but we were sat within 10 minutes...from there it went downhill. My steak was fine but nothing to brag about, husbands was BAD...I don't know if meat had set out but the taste was so bad I spit it out. Waitress more or less called me a liar..said it was our taste buds/food was fine. Toast did not arrive till after meal was over. Service was tedious at best. We had to listen to the a young man (who manager was sucking up to) tell racist jokes. It is so sad to see this place come to this..but it is so different than how it used to be. Too many other places to spend my money at; we will not be back

DE-LISH. My hubby and I went here for our first real date night since my son was born. We ordered the frog legs to start since neither of us had ever had them. The were pretty good. I had a Pineapple Upside Down Martini-tasted JUST like the cake. I had the small filet and loved it. The food at Beef and Bottle is so simple. There wasn't much to it but that was what made it so good. The steak was cooked perfectly and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is very romantic and we had such an awesome night!

We can't wait to go back.

ROMANTIC ATMOSPHERE. We've dined at Beef & Bottle a few times now. When you enter, you go back in time ... black and white photos of movie stars, great music! I would highly recommend going there for a romantic evening.

Each time we go, the service and food have been outstanding. You are served complimentary cheese and crackers. The salad is much like a "salad bar" that comes to your table. You make your own salad from a variety of vegetables. Salad dressing comes on the side.

We have been several times since discovering this "jewel". No matter what you order, a steak, chicken, or seafood, it is cooked to perfection. The wine selection is quite broad and won't disappoint you!! They also have 1/2 price wine night.

Let's just say that when we visit Charlotte, it is our favorite place to dine! Love everything about it!!

Steak with the guys. If you want a great place to go grab a steak with the guys Beef and Bottle on S. Blvd is the place to go. Their food easily rivals the like of Morton's Ruth Chris sand the like

From the outside you wont expect much but once inside you'll be pleasantly surprised at the dark classic setting, then once you try the food you'll be hooked.

Charlotte's best kept secret. Never judge a book by it's cover! This cute little steak house on S Blvd may lack curb appeal, but it more than makes up for it with amazing food and service. I've eaten there numerous times and each time the food is excellent as well as the service! It's a great place for a first date or to celebrate.

Unique ambiance and always great food. Hubby and i went here for New Year's Eve becuase we knew it would be good. I think we like this place because it's not pretentious. It's not about high end finishes or glamorous dishes. It's just food done right everytime. This place is so consistent. We always start with the oysters rockafeller. The only dissapointment is that there are just 4. I'd prefer 6 or 8! I love how you can prepare your own salad right at the table. I'm not a red meat eater but i always get the small filet. It's seasoned to perfection and with a side of broccoli, it's the perfect serving. The portions are not huge, but i'm always completely satisfied when i leave. And the ambiance - how can you explain it. It's low key, and sometimes i feel like the crew from "Goodfellas" will walk in the front door. We always recommend this place to friends. It's way more fun than a stuffy uptown overated steak chain. Enjoy!

Thank you so much!!! We are different because we haven't changed. We are trying to keep with the original roots of the steakhouse business... Look for more food offerings in 2010. We are keeping the menu, just adding some requests from our guests...

Thanks again,

Nice little accident. I wandered into Beef and Bottle quite by mistake last night when looking for a place to eat while on a business trip. When I saw the place, I did not know what to make of the name and the exterior of the building reminded me of a BBQ place in Texas. I figured that with a name like Beef and Bottle, I had to try it, just so I could tell people that I ate there!

When I walked in, I was quite surprised at what I saw. It is dimly lit and I did feel under dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. They still welcomed me heartily and sat me at a great table.

The service there was impeccable and very friendly. After glancing through the menu I immediately ordered a ribeye, for about $27. It came with a simple salad of iceberg lettuce and a plate with onions, bell pepper, tomato and a couple of other salad bits on the side.

My Steak came medium rare, as ordered, and my impression with the first bite was that it was simply a good steak. While it is good, I think that comparisons to Mortons and other such places are WAY out of line. I would say that the steak was worth maybe $19.

The bread that was served with the meal was outstanding however.

Over all it was a *good* experience, but I am not sure that I would recommend going out of your way for it.
