My Favorite. This place is AWESOME. I've eaten at Cafe 157 more than 15 times. I love the quality of food, always fresh and excellent prepared, attention to detail. Service is great, servers friendly, atmosphere relaxing. The owners are always there and their commitment to service is apparent. From a salad or the yummy calamari for lunch to a quality dinner and drinks, I ‘m there again and again. Never get bored, new dishes on the menu and great selection of wines. Plus, I’m happy for all the people I have suggested this restaurant, they all love it.

I ‘m a greek, I know about quality food, and when somebody asks me, I show the way to café 157.

Pros: Excellent food, friendly owner and staff

Cons: none I can think of

Best Restaurant in Matthews. Will DEFINITELY GO BACK!!!! From the service, food, atmosphere (beautiful patio), to the prices, you just can't beat all of that. Love everything we had, the calamari, the fried pickles, the entrees all came out nice and fresh, and delicious.

Can't wait to go back again, and will recommend Cafe 157 to everybody.

Will NEVER go back!!!. It was my first visit there. We were there with my husband's parents celebrating his birthday. My in-laws said they had bad service last time they were there, but it was later and a little busy and the food was good so they wanted to give it another try. Our first mention of our experience was that our waitress was not very personable. Not a big deal though. Also the food was a little pricey with a very small selection. Seems they have more wine than food.

Our food arrived and we all began enjoying our meals. I got about 1/3 through my fish sandwich and realized there was something blue on the top of my bread. I showed it to my family and asked if they thought it was mold. There was only 4 small spots. They then told me to look at the bottom, and there was mold ALL over the bottom piece. We called over the waitress and showed it to her and she asked if I wanted another. When she brought back the new meal she said a very nonchalant sorry and explained that they stack the bread high in the kitchen and it must have been looked over.

I am not one to complain about my food, but I have friends and family that do and in my experience when something isn't right with the food, a manager or owner will come over and apologize, and usually the meal is comped. Well, we had neither, and the owner was there and was visiting other tables around us asking how they were and offering fresh pepper. He never once visited our table.

I left saying I will never go there again, and so did the rest of my family.

Just ok. I went on a Wednesday night for a girl's night dinner. The appetizer was not good. We ordered calamari...it was greasy and rubbery and the aioli sauce was disgusting. My meal was ok and reasonably priced. I had the penne vodka and it was good. I asked for some bread and that too was good, but it was $2 extra for bread??? The other girls that I was with had a cajun pasta and she said it was good and the other girl had mac and cheese with lobster tail. The "mac" ended up being orzo which was a bit odd, but it was tasty. The martini specials were nothing great...low grade vodka and a mixer. We were the only ones in eating in Gado Gado and the cook kept peeping at us through the little door window to the kitchen which was odd. They also started turning off the lights in the restaurant at 9:00 PM...I guess that was our cue to leave!

Horrible food & service. the service is by far the worst in charlotte & matthews.. the food is of exterme cheap quality. The service is horrible, rushed and rude. There is not one positive thing I can say about this dump. PLEASE STAY AWAY.. there is plenty of great dining options in matthews...
