Romance no more. High expectations for a great dining experience were crushed by this neighborhood favorite. AND, that's what it is...nothing more...a nice neighborhood place to EAT not Dine! . It's not a place for great food or greats service. It doesn't have table linens. It's service is "Diner-ish". It's wine list is elementary. But, it's prices reflects it's owners lofty idea that this place is "great". It's not. Carpoccio, prepreared on wooden block...sanitary? Pumpkin gnocchi with no taste and a whole fish that was overdone and cold. Ugh!

Don't bother.

Customshop - good food, not so great service. We have been to CustomShop 2 times now - both times on a living social deal. The food is great - artisan, well crafted and thought out, using local ingredients whenever possible. But as you know, it isn't just about the food, it is also about the service and the experience. And both times, ours wasn't so great. We were in and out of the restaurant in 45 minutes to 1 hour for a 3 course meal - talk about rushed!!! We both felt like it was the server's #1 priority to turn the table as fast as possible, and that included taking plates before being finished w/our food, clearing glasses of wine w/wine in the them, and not going out of the way to chat, inform us about the place, the food, etc. Rather disappointing. And just so you know, we had a male waiter the first time, and a female waiter the 2nd time. My husband noticed that both waiters were very friendly to tables that were not on the living social coupons....so maybe that had something to do w/it. However, if we are going to spend $75+ for dinner, we are going to go to someplace that makes us feel welcome and un-rushed. We won't be back......

Is Charlotte the new Portland, Oregon?. Coming from Portland,Oregon which even the New York Times proclaims a mecca of local and handcrafted food, (which is sometimes only sort of true!) I was delighted to find such great food in Charlotte. Highly recommended by family and foodie friends, it did not disappoint. We did all Starters and nothing was short of delicious. A little skeptical of having Razor clams, a Pacific Northwest specialty so far from home, it was perfectly executed, and have never had better. Can't wait to go back and do an entree. Also, lovely wine list and very knowledgeable server regarding the list. Very nice atmosphere, and nice outside patio too.

One of the BEST Restaurant's in Charlotte. This place is AWESOME. Back when they served lunch I had the most INCREDIBLE sandwich there. (First time I've ever used a fork and knife to eat a sandwich, such a beautiful presentation. Still have dreams about it.) Sad they don't do lunch anymore but I gotta tell ya, the dinners are off the charts as well. Beautiful atmostphere, excellent service and wine presentation and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend as good spot for romantic date night. Prices were reasonable.
