Worst dining experience of 2011 very disappointing.
We have dined at Cafe Monte for lunch a number of times and found the wait staff and food to be top notch. We have had dinner one time and was disappointed with the food and service. We decided to
give it another try and we were very sorry we did.
My husband and I dine out at least 4 times a week for dinner and 5-6 times a week for lunch so we are experienced diners.
We sat at the bar and our server, Kevin, asked if we wanted something to drink and gave us menu's. We gave him our order. We were the only people dining at the bar. They had a special Valentine menu that I reviewed and asked how a certain dish was prepared. To which Kevin replied "can you be more specific, what is it exactly that you want to know?" Clearly annoyed and sarcastic.
He took my husbands order for an appetizer and walked away before taking mine. We asked him to include my app in the order. The push to order our meal was on from the moment we sat down. We made it clear that we were not in a hurry and would most likely order a bottle of wine.
Our app's arrived and we place our main course order again with the caveat that we were not in a hurry. We finished our app's, ordered our wine and our dinner arrived before the wine was opened. It should be mentioned here that my crab bisque was luke warm. We ordered lobster and crab crepes which arrived swimming in sauce, very little lobster or crab but a good deal of soupy crepe. Horrible. We would've complained but Kevin was clearly in a hurry to get out of there and service thus far had been worse than the crepe so we elected to take our bottle of wine and go elsewhere.
It should be noted that we arrived at 7 pm and we had paid the check by 7:45 pm. Too bad for Kevin as we are normally above the 20% norm of tipping.
We will not be back.…
Great food and great atmosphere!. My friend and I went here for dinner a couple weeks ago and fell in love with everything about it. Our food was prepared just right, the service was absolutely impeccable and the music and candles created the perfect atmosphere for a special Saturday night dinner. This is the perfect place to go if you are going on a date! Price was a little higher than most Charlotte restaurants but certainly no more than the average SouthPark place. Very quaint and intimate.…
good but pricey. Brunch menu was great. Lots to choose from. I ordered an omelet with spinach. it was very big and filling. It came with this little potato thing that was fried. It was REALLY good. The prices were higher than expected. Not much for under $10. But now they've added Amalie's bakery in the front, so we took home some delicious french pastries! This is a brunch spot to impress. Not for the frugal.…
dissappointed.
the muffin was compressed, cold and hard to a crisp; the canadian bacon was cold, burnt and instead of one good piece there were 2 thin pieces. When I asked them to re-do it, all they did was re-heat
the bun and the canadian bacon which only made it worse!
On a positive note, they took care of the bill and explained that the regular cook was not in and they had someone cover it. The desserts are excellent! Next time you go make sure you call to make sure the executive chef is in!…
Love brunch. Have never been for lunch or Dinner but hope too. Breakfast- benedicts, crepes, omelets, quiche. I have enjoyed the benidicts and crepes but the best are the almond croissants. When I go to the mall I pick up one for the next AM. I didn't live 30 min away would have brunch there 2/month and probably dinner once a month or so.…
