BEST FUSHI IN CHATLOTTE. I've been to many many sushi places all over the country. Charlotte is not close to the coast where they get freshest fish, but the fish I find in Yama is just as good as the ones I had in NYC and LA. Great sake list with a very knowledgeable owner who knows what he's talking about. Nice environment and reasonable price, would defenitly go back!

By far the best sushi I have ever had. I would highly recommend Yama to everyone. The food is amazing. the service is wonderful and the environment and fun and inviting! Everytime I am in the southpark area I pop over for food. We usually have the same waiter which makes it personal, and the owner is always there asking our opinion. Go and try it now!

Unfresh & expensive. Theres nothing really special about this place like any other sushi place in charlotte except for the fact that it cost about 3 time more then any other sushi restaurant in charlotte. Bad quality for the price the uni was very unfresh along with the tuna nigiri if you do decide to go there i recommed to stick with rolls.

Excellent Sushi, very nice atmosphere. One of the best sushi places we've been to in Charlotte. Very fresh, very well prepared rolls. Service was very good too - attentive but not hovering. Reasonably priced - not the cheapest in town, but not the most expensive either. The seaweed salad was a rather large portion - even though there's some lettuce under it to expand the volume, there was still a lot - probably twice as much as any other sushi place would give you for the same price.

FRESH best Sushi in Town. Being a big sushi lover I discovered Yama by chance because a friend of mine opened a store right across from it.

I have been to Nikkos, I, Ru Sans, Sushi 101, Suhi by the lake, Koi, Ginkos... and nothing compares.

It is the absolute truth! They have the BEST sushi in town - super fresh, creative rolls and arrangements, nice and friendly service, and an outstanding sake list. If you have never tried "Sparkling Sake" - here is your chance. A Martini Lover will appreciate their yummy Lychee Martini.

The sashimi is amazing and I have not seen any other place in Charlotte that offers anything similar to their HM Roll or Paul Roll - the house favorites. You have to try it and you won't be disappointed. Promise! :)

Good Sushi, Horrible Customer Service. Well let me first off say that I have been to this place about 40 times in the past couple years and enjoy the food quite a bit, BUT...As of recent the owner/management have lost what really made them popular in the first place, appreciation for the customer.

I started going to this place well over a year ago when it first opened and you could walk in any day of the week at any time and there would be a good chance you were one of a handful people in there. Now that they have gained a reputation (mainly from word of mouth, because their advertisement campaign is non-existent) for being great sushi in a pretty upscale neighborhood they just don't seem to give a damn.

In the past month, I had been there multiple times, once with a group of 5 friends. We had been squished into a 4 top table and when we asked the waitress if we could move, she said that it would be fine. Then the manager comes over and states that we were unable to move and that we had to put a chair on the end of the table in the middle of the walkway. The restaurant was not full, not even close to full; and when I asked him why he said there was a reservation for that table in an hour and a half!!!!!. I made a comment to him asking him how 5 people were going to sit at a 4 top all ordering sushi, drinks and appetizers he just shrugged and walked away. Then a couple minutes later, he came over and said we could move to the larger table but we HAD to be out within an hour. I have never been told I had to be out of a restaurant especially one of this stature. Being that there were 5 people each getting alcohol, appetizers and sushi, the bill was over 175.00 and the manager did not give two thoughts to losing a table that night, and a group of people who have been patrons since it had opened and helped it grow.

It's going to take a lot for me to go back and spend money when I feel like I'm not wanted, last time I checked, I am paying the bill so they work for me when I am dining there. There are PLENTY of other good sushi restaurants in the area and I'd rather spend money at Nikko, Enso or the new Cyros in Southpark before I go in there.

Highest Quality Fish In Town!. Yama has the highest quality fish in town! Coming from New York City, I had tried all the sushi restaurants around town and nothing compares to Yama. The sashimi here is very lively, the service was great and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Yama also has a huge list of premium sake and they know their sakes.

My favorite sushi in Charlotte!. Yama is by far my new favorite spot for sushi in Charlotte. After a long day at work or a hard workout at the gym, Yama is my reward! The fish is incredibly fresh and the quality is simply top notch. My favorite routine is to order over the phone and having it waiting and ready when I get there...not to say that I dislike the atmosphere, I just prefer to indulge at home. The service is prompt and professional and I've never had to wait long for my food.

When you go ask for Paul, he's the owner and will take wonderful care of you. Oh, and make SURE you get the Crunchy Roll, definitely straight from heaven.
