view & uploadLove this place!. I had my first date with my husband here and we go back for dinner all the time because the food is so good! Almost every time we come we get the crab quesadilla and barbacoa and share because both are wonderful. This is a little more upscale for Mexican and is a go to place for us when we have people in town and want to go to dinner. It does get busy so there may be a wait but, there is a good bar area so just get a margarita and wait for your table because the food is well worth it!
One of the best. I love Cantina. This is usually our go to for birthdays, celebrations, etc. Love the table made guacamole and the food is awesome. Not to mention the drinks... But it's an awesome atomosphere and always a fun crowd. Definitely one of Charlotte's best.
what a fake. food is ok -- typical americanized tex mex. Way overpriced. We got the fandito and it was terrible. Pasturzed cheese overf pinaple. It's not good and not close to being mexican. Save your $ and don't go here.
really really good. their food is authentic. they do a good job with the flavors and mixing experiences. the best thing about our experience was that we did not have an upset stomach after the meal, to me that means that their food is really fresh.
Don't see what all the fuss is about.
My boyfriend and I had dinner here a few days ago. I love Mexican food, and Cantina just did not do it for either one of us. We were excited about the gaucamole alive, but were let down after the 1st chip. It took forever for the person to come out and then the person was all sweaty and it just wasn't appealing.
I had the shrimp tacos which were ok, kind of flavor less, just like the salsa, and my boyfriend had some enchiladas that, well, for lack of a better phrase kept him up all night after our movie date...
I hope this helps, but over all, rude hostess, short wait staff, syrupy drinks, and flavorless food. I doubt we will be going back. Over priced and over rated.
Great food Ok service.
I have eaten at Cantina a few times and have always enjoyed the food it a great choice when looking for god Mexican food at a middle of the road price. I highly recommend their freshly made guacamole just be careful not to fill up on it before your main meal arrives.
While the food is great the service is sometimes slow, I have had excellent service but also some very poor service. Either way the food out weighs the sometimes spotty service.
YUMMY. I couldn't agree more with other customers saying that this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried. I'm the typical picky eater, but have been pleased with EVERY dish I've had. I've only visited the East Blvd location, but each time all of the staff were friendly & had no problems with the ordering, etc. There is, however a longer wait that I would like on Thurs - Sat, but hey, I'm sure the owner loves that problem. They deserve to be this busy. Really great food, great atmosphere! You should try it yourself.
This one's a keeper!. Cantina 1511 was such an amazing surprise. If you go in expecting the typical fare you get in most chain Mexican restaurants, swimming in grease and cheese, you will be disappointed. The food was truly authentic Mexican cuisine, the same as I have experienced in Mexico City and other trips to the country. We went to the Ballantyne location but I'm sure the Dilworth location is equally as good. The guacamole was as fresh as you can get it - prepared right in front of you at the table. I had the Tacos al Pastore. The combination of the super tender pork, pineapple and habanero sauce was simply to die for. I ordered it on a flour tortilla but after a discussion with the manager, he recommended next time to order on a soft corn for another unique taste. We were going to skip dessert because we were so full and had asked for the check. To our surprise, a complimentary piece of the Nutella cake was given to us. Definitely worth the extra calories. The staff, from the hostess, waiter to the manager were top notch - all experts in customer service and so very accomodating. I only wish I remembered their names to give them proper credit. The only negative thing I can say was the wait time is pretty long. And that's not even a negative - it's an indication of the great food you can expect.
Great fresh tasting food. Just been to Cantina 1511 after having heard some good things. The area we sat in was nice and cosy. The food tasted great. The service was good and we will definitely be going back. We had the steak quesadilla and the Barbaroa de Percoa (or something like that) - it was mexican barbecue pork with rice and beans, shredded cheese, salad, guacamole and pico de gallo - very yummy. I saved some for later too!
Thank you for visiting Cantina 1511. Glad you had a memorable experience and are enjoying our new menu. On your next visit, try the Enchiladas De Dennis, this is one of my favorite dishes. All the best, Frank.
So/so experience at Cantina 1511..
A girlfriend and I ate at Cantina last friday night. The experience was ok. We did not have a reservation and knew that there would be a wait, we come here often and it is always busy, so this was not unusual. We were told by a woman at the front door that our wait would be about an hour. Drinks were recieved at the bar by a very kind and patient blonde bartender, and we moved to have a seat at a high top table. Soon after we sat down a dark haired girl asked if we would like chips and salsa and we oblidged. As soon as our drinks got low she asked if she could get us another round. Bar service was very prompt and efficient. After an hour and fifteen minutes had passed I went to the front and asked how much longer and the woman up front with long brown hair shortly responded that they were busy and they would get us seated when they could. Another ten minutes passed and the waitress in the bar seemed to notice our frustration and let us know we were able to recieve full service in the bar. We decided to stay in the bar because the waitress(Mary I think?) was very kind and positive. I ordered Pollo Lareda and it came out raw. I order it often so I know it was probably an honest mistake. Our server was very apologetic and insisted on getting me a new one. I told her i would just have the pork plate my friend was having instead. She smiled and apologized again and i had my new food within five minutes. She assured us she would have a manager speak with us. Shortly after the rude girl from the front door appeared at our table. She made a very brief appearance asking if everything tasted good, we said yes, and she said "sorry about the chicken" and walked away. Overall the service staff was excellent and aside from the mistake with my Pollo Lareda, the food was wonderful as well. Perhaps you should reevaluate your management staff, or at least instruct them on how to deal with customers in a hospitable way.
Aside from this experience I enjoy Cantina and will return.
