Would not give an estimate of work on the phone, the employee said they "had to look" but since we bought the kitchen sink fixture and just needed it installed, and she said "I don't think it'll cost that much" we had them come to the house. Come to find out the plumber said "It's a FIXED cost for this particular item, it costs $280 for 1 hour of work and they want you to join 'some club' to get a reduction. DO NOT LET THEM SET A FOOT ON YOUR PROPERTY without getting an estimate of the work value first, they charge a $60 service fee that they pretend to "wave" when they gauge you for your repairs! The technician smelled my garbage disposal and recommended based on 'smell' that it be 'replaced'... oh by the way it worked FINE, did i mention I couldn't use it CAUSE THE KITCHEN SINK WATERS OFF duh! And the technician went into my garage without my permission and put an 'emergency sticker' with their number on my hot water heater! Um... I'm home, did you ask permission to go in my garage??? NO. STAY THE HECK AWAY from this plumber. That being said... they're ontime, polite and no plumbers cracks. I have used this plumber for several repairs, they do good work, and they cost too much.
Terrible. Estimates going from $2800 (before a club discount) to $4100 once our insurance company was involved a year later. (which was doctored because they didn't apply the club discount to the original estimate). They had kleenpro come out to clean up, who is pushy about having their flooring man do the repairs. Shady, you can tell an obvious lie. They contradicted themselves over and over again. Do NOT use Benjamin Franklin for your plumbing needs. I wish I had looked at their rating before using them.
Hidden fees after arriving. Do not recommend Benjamin Franklin plumber. Find an honest plumber!
"I just moved to our ancestral home in
Charlotte and lots of facilities
are not working so i need to do a lot of renovations I need to redo
the kitchen pantry/laundry area/hot water heater. Yes, all of that in
a space that most people have for just their pantry in modern homes.
The biggest space sucker was the hot water heater and since it’s a 10+
years old it was probably going to need to be replaced before too
long. We consulted a lot of Plumbing companies in the area but they
could not do as the specifications that I wanted good thing I check
online and found Benjamin Franklin Plumbing I check their site and
they have water heaters item so it’s convenient to hired them and buy
the heater from them as well.
I phoned them and book schedule for estimates and Wow...the supervisor came to the house to do the estimate. He was a professional looking dude who really seemed to know what he was talking about. He knew how many BTU's we needed to tell the gas company we needed. He had knowledgeable opinions about what size we needed and placement of the new machine. Price is good so i hired them immediately.Installation process took one day and went very smoothly. The plumbers were very professional, super clean and giving me kind suggestions for completing other half-assed home improvement projects we had started. I am very satisfied with the product and service rendered.
I highly recommend them to all my friends who need similar service."
BUYERS BEWARE.
I called Benjamin.
BUYERS BEWARE.
I called Benjamin Franklin to replace my Water Heater and Sump Pump. What a fool I was. Their quote was for $2,711. I told them I had to get a second opinion and they charged me $49 for the service call.
I got the work done with another plumnber with comparable equipment for $1,300.
After such a disparity between the Ben Franklin Quote and my actual installation, I asked for my $49 back.
I didn't really expect them to give me my $49 back and of course they did not.
I spoke cordially with the General Manager who made it clear he would not refund me. It was obvious he could care less about customer service and would rather have his plumbers charge an arm and leg to some sucker than keep an honest customer happy.
They are all about MONEY and nothing else. Stay away from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.
BUYERS BEWARE
Do not use Benjamin Franklin.
I called Benjamin Franklin for a plumbing issue. and they gave me a quote of 5000 to 8000 dollars. Needless to say i got a second opinion. I came across a plumber by the name of John S Major at 704-563-7020. They gave me a quote of 3000 and I went with them. After digging up my line John Major came to my door and said that his quote of 3000 was to high for my issue and quote " in good conscience he could not charge me 3000 dollars and the service would be 1775."
This is a father and son owned complany and they are extremely fair and completely honest with you. They work fast and take their work serously.
I recommend them highly. If America was filled more with honest people like this father and son business we would be a whole lot better off. They are friendly, no nonsense and work fast while doing your job right. They do what they say and give you honest information.
I will not use anyone else ever. Benjamin Franklin are do not tell the truth and are out to get as much money as possible from you.
Benjamin Franklin wost service and deceitful sales practices. This company was called to unclog a toilet at my sister's condo but told her she needed a new water heater. How does needing a toilet unclogged become a new water heater?? Through high pressure and deceit! They took advantage of my sister who is disabled. The water heater for her unit was a "low-boy" 20 gallon. At MOST costs $300 from Lowe's or HD. At BF it was $1000.00!!!!!!!! To make matters worse, the guy takes two hours to get and brings in the WRONG one. Two hours later, he finally returns to install this golden $1000.00 water heater. My sister had NO WATER HEATER PROBLEM!! THE HOT WATER WORKED FINE!!!! BEWRE OF THIS COMPANY!!!! How do these people sleep at night is beyond me!
Best Experience with a Service Company. I usually don't take the time to applaud service companies because I think they are simply doing their job. I am paying them to perform a service and I have high expectations so I believe a good job should be standard... otherwise I simply won't use them again. BUT THIS TIME.... I am taking time out of my busy day to tell people how great of a job this company did. I am beyond pleased with the customer service and knowledge of this company. They have been at my home for 4 days in a row and every detail has been perfect. The plumbers have gone out of there way to inform me and make sure I am happy with everything going on. From start to finish they were professional, clean and most importantly I felt that I could trust them. BRAVO BEN FRANKLIN PLUMBING! You just got yourself a lifetime customer.
Don't Call Ben Franklin Unless You Have Lots of Time.
I not only didn't engage these people, but had to hang up after an extensive period of time on the phone with their obnoxious, pushy, uninformative, demanding person who answers the phone.
She would give me no information of any kind whatsoever in answer to simple questions like "is there a service fee", "are your plumbers employees or contractors," "do you do such and such type of work", etc.
When I would ask a question, she would respond with detailed questions about me, like every conceivable aspect of my contact data, including address and payment method and much more. In response to other questions of mine, she would rattle on and on about how great the company was, but not giving me any worthwhile information.
I told her she didn't need to know my address in order to tell me if there was a service fee, and she asked even more questions. Then she would press me to make an appointment, without answering anything.
When I finally told her, actually giving 3 warnings, that I was going to hang up if she didn't answer my questions, that I was not going to give her more information about me or make an appointment until she did, she would just ask more questions and try again to make the appointment.
I finally told her, "this is it; I'm hanging up if you don't tell me if there's a service fee right now, and she started talking again about the "openings" on the repairman's schedule. So I hung up.
It was so bizarre, so far beyond the norm, that it seemed absolutely crazy.
I can only image what service and pricing from a company that behaves this way to a simple telephone inquiry about an appointment would be like.
It appears that they think they can totally control the conversation and the action and browbeat callers into open-ended commitments without making any commitments themselves or revealing anything about themselves.
After decades in real estate and property management, I have never experienced anything like it.
Great Service. I had Kevin from Ben Franklin Plumbing out to my home. He was very helpful. He took the time to listen and provide answers. I was very impressed with his ability to perform the work quickly and how neat and professional he looked. He went over all my options and allowed time for me and my wife to make a decision. He also went over all the pricing and was extremely courteous. He did a fabulous job and his attitude will keep us calling Ben Franklin for all of our plumbing needs.
