Jeffrey Widmann has been a Medical Massage Therapist for the past 16yrs. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Yoga Instructor. After graduating from a Florida Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Program in 1994, he relocated his family to Charlotte to assist teachers at a Neuromuscular Massage Therapy School. After leaving the school he focused on building his own practice and also worked with a Neurologist and Neuropsychologist at a Traumatic Brain Injury Center. At the Center he primarily treated patients with Migraine headaches, neck pain, back pain and limited range of motion. He truly has seen how highly effective Massage Therapy can be, even on a disability level. Jeff continues to broaden his knowledge on pain relief techniques and preventative maintenance strategies.
I have been coming to see Jeffrey for neck pain for several years. He is great about getting me in quickly and I walk out with significant to total improvement in my pain level every single time. Highly recommended.
I received the WORST massage of my life! I normally get one after a hard workout (at least 2 times a mo.). My normal massage therapist is traveling and I tried this place. They called it a Swedish Massage - but she spent more time rolling my muscles than going "with the grain".
After 2 showers with dawn soap my skin still feels oily. I could barely make it home because my steering wheel was so slick (after washing my hands 3 times!!). My clothes were stained with oil and I hope it comes out!
They gave me grief because I did not tell them about the groupon coupon prior to making the appointment (I actually got the groupon AFTER I made the appointment when they said they were available).
The therapist phone rang a few times where she had to stop the massage to silence the phone. The therapist did not leave the room, but it was quite disrupting.
I use Groupon to try new places. I am so glad I did not pay 150 dollars for that kind of service! To throw in my face that the therapist does not make much money on groupons is none of my business! If I go to a steakhouse with a groupon - I do not expect the smallest lowest cut of meat! Either they gave me a green therapist - or they just have extremely low standards for their therapist!!! I do not recommend this place to anyone if that is the way they do business!
He booked a deep tissue massage and then found a special for swedish that he purchased. The therapist does use alot of oil in swedish work so there is no friction on the tissue and if the person is hairy it helps not to pull hair. Techniques used in swedish is pulling and rolling the muscle to promote blood flow and relaxation. If he would have stuck with deep tissue massage instead of looking for a deal he would have been happier. I did offer him a free deep tissue massage but he declined.
When I started training with Jeff Widmann at Advanced Therapeutics ~ on the advice of one of his clients ~ I had one goal. I wanted to fit into a size 12 again.
After just four months of training once a week with Jeff, I can wear a size 10! And ~ before the year is out ~ I can see myself in an 8. (How I will afford a new wardrobe is another matter!)
Yes, Jeff is darn tough, and yes, he makes me work harder than I thought imaginable. But he does it with humor, enthusiasm, and praise. Most important, Jeff carefully monitors me every minute to make sure my form is correct so there is no risk of injury. At my age ~ 55 ~ that's very important!
I have tried other trainers in town, but none were as professional, motivating, or knowledgable as Jeff.
His studio, next to The Morehead Inn on Morehead Street, is super-convenient for those of us who work uptown. Plenty of parking.
For anyone ~ especially over 40 ~ who wants to get healthier and more fit, I highly recommend Jeff Widmann.
Jeff knows what he is doing. A friend of ours recommended him to me several times for pain before I finally went. Jeff did amazing work to relieve the pain. If it can be addressed through neuromuscular massage therapy, then Jeff can do it. He is an expert at what he does. I heartily recommend him.
Jeff has the compassion of a great therapist and more wisdom than most doctors (no offense intended toward doctors). He has never steered my wife or me wrong (we've both been long time clients on account of a couple of car accidents). If he says to do something, I recommend you just do it.
My husband was suffering from debilitating back pain and I was having chronic, sometimes severe, headaches and neck pain. Jeff was able to help both us in just a few sessions.
He talked to me, asked some questions, listened to my answers, and then explained what he planned to do. He taught me some stretches that have helped me to keep my headaches at bay - I no longer have them. I appreciate Jeff's concern and candor in working with me. I have recommended him to friends and will continue to do so.
Jeff came highly recommended to me when I was in such discomfort from sciatica and neck pain. He listened very carefully to my ailments and asked many questions to assess the potential problems. It took many sessions to work out the horrible body mechanics I developed over many years. Not only does Jeff address your concerns, but offers suggestions to prevent pain from the returning. He will continue to be in my rotation for ongoing maintenance for the health of my body!
From the first visit, it was clear that communication is important to Jeff. He takes time to explain his process so that the client can know what to expect. The client is also expected to communicate with Jeff. He wants to know the background story to the injury and also encourages mental and emotional health, too.
Jeff worked with me after I had a few months with Physical Therapy (PT) for neck and back pain. Jeff corrected my posture and emphasized that unless *I* also contributed to my healing process, then I would always have some pain. However, living pain free is possible if I am willing to develop proper posture, do the necessary stretches, and exercise. He showed me on a diagram the muscles that he would be working and demonstrated how I needed to stand, stretches that I could do, and how to use a yoga ball. He also held me accountable at each visit in regards to my stretching and exercising, again emphasizing the importance of taking care of myself outside the office walls. I appreciated the discussion and his desire to see me pain-free.
My pain level decreased by over 60% and my back did not flare up from shooting weddings like they did previously. I also integrated the stretches he taught while on the job to help prevent tension during the photographing. If I had pain in another limb than the original area, he was willing to work on those, too, and again showed me more exercises to help strengthen the weak areas. After PT targeted the general problem area, I was relieved to find someone who specialized in working with the trigger points that did not seem to be as deeply targeted in PT.
In regards to Jeff as a person, he appreciates promptness, he's very family-oriented and loves his family, his office is clean and atmospheric, he encourages both communication and resting/relaxation during the massage, he works with your schedule, and from my experience, isn't greedy for your money - he wants you pain-free so that you do not have to continue to return.
I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 12 years old and wore a brace for 6 years. The curvature improved tremendously because I was a kid and still growing. However doctors warned me that I would probably have problems when I got older. Well, I must be older now. My "strange" symptoms started 6 years ago...pounding pulse and palpitations in my head, at the top of my spine. Several doctors told me it was stress but I knew it had to be something more. When I met Jeff, I knew he had a special gift. He patiently listened to my symptoms and history. He explained in detail what he believed was going on before starting treatment. As immediate as our first session, I felt like a different person! Combined with Jeffâ??s massage therapy, his recommendations for exercising/stretching, and changing positions when sleeping, driving and sitting at the computer, have helped me experience an amazing improvement in the quality of my life. Best of all, I've been getting the best night's sleep than I've had in almost 6 years. Thank you, Jeff! I am referring all of my friends and acquaintances to you!
