Late Dinner. After getting a hard slap of hunger, I suggested to some friends that we head over to Intermezzo for something to eat, it was around 11:20pm, 1/23/11. I called the restaurant to see how late they were serving and was pleasantly informed they were serving until midnight. We arrived with 20 minutes to spare. Eric, behind the bar was more than happy to have us. We sat at the bar, I had veggie lasagna, my friends has the gouda burger and a Creamy chicken pasta dish that I can't remember the name of but I remember it was delicious! (I had a bite). The meal came out promptly, looked great, hot and just what was looking for. I am happy they have all kinds of wine and I am not limited to booze and beer. I had a nice glass of Malbec. I felt very welcome and enjoyed my time. I am happy I went. Love ERIC! Great little location on Central, inviting atmosphere, love the enclosed patio.
Favorite Resturant in Charlotte. Best pizza and eastern European food. Great service also!
Amazing Pizza, Cool Ambiance.
Had a quick dinner Friday evening at Intermezzo and was thoroughly impressed. Located just outside of the city on Central Blvd this small restaurant definitely has a lot of character. The interior reminds of a northern establishment with exposed brick walls, wood finishes, dimmed light and just an all around warm atmosphere.
I had ordered some of the garlic knots, which to be honest weren't anything special. Too much garlic on them, but I think that's just my personal preference. The pizza on the other hand, was incredible. Some of the best pizza I've had, ever. I had ordered just a simple, pepperoni & cheese pizza, but it was packed full of flavor. The sauce to cheese and topping ratio was perfect and the thin crust was crispy, but not over done.
The menu has a decent amount of authentic style Italian dishes and about a dozen pizza choices. Next time you're in the mood for pizza, or anything Italian, I'd check it out.
There are a couple things that I could see people getting turned away by, the first being the nonchalant attitude the staff seems to have. They are willing to help you, but the way they do it could be construed as being rude. The only other thing that could be a turn off is if you're stuck outside in the plastic covered front (inside is very small) and there are people smoking out there it's very unappealing.
