A Hidden Treasure!. Excellent Sushi!! I love New Zealand's Sushi and Sushi 101. This place matches them both, only cheaper. The staff is great as well, friendly and hard working. They also have an awsome lunch special! I don't think it can be beat, and don't know how they can afford to do it. They are relativly new and in a great location. I have been there at least 10 times in the last 2 months and will continue to give them my buisness.

ALWAYS GREAT. We have been going to One-U for over 4 years now. We will either order sushi for take out or we'll eat in at the tables or sushi bar itself. Yes they can sometimes get backed up especially during the peak hours BECAUSE their sushi and dinner menu is so amazing. Tony, the Sushi Chef and Owner is phenomenal. My wife didn't use to eat fish let alone sushi - now she's hooked. Having grown up in California and spent time in Japan, I have had A LOT of sushi at a lot of places, and One-U is truly the best. We have found the wait staff to always be fabulous and always working hard to make our dining experience great.

This is a small family-run business that has provided my family and me years of enjoyment. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND ONE-U to everyone.

Never Again. Went early on a Saturday night this past week (12-10-2011). There were three other parties when we arrived around 5 p.m. Waited 15 minutes to have waitress take our orders. I ordered a fried rice dish and my wife ordered two sushi rolls. It appeared there were only two waitresses in the place. They were waiting tables, taking phone in orders and running food/drinks to tables. They were working their butts off trying to keep up with phone in orders and running food to the front. After 45 minutes they brought my wife's sushi out but not my fried rice dish. In that same amount of time I saw at least 20 to go orders finished. I asked what the deal was and the waitress said their kitchen was short staffed that evening. No one in the restaurant was getting their food the whole time we were there but those take out orders kept on rolling out of the kitchen. I suppose the food must be good but I will not be back there. My wife finished her sushi and my food still had not arrived one hour after my order was placed. There were now 7 parties in the restaurant and none of them had their food either. I told the waitress to cancel my order and remove it from my bill. I paid for the two diet cokes and my wife's sushi rolls and we left after 90 minutes of waiting around. I felt like the place was mostly a place to get to go orders. They threw the dine in area as an afterthought. Next time we want sushi it won't be this place. I will not be back. There is no excuse for the poor service we received. Don't tell me some bs about the kitchen being backed up and those to go orders keep rolling out the door lickety split.

Awful..... This was one of the WORST sushi places I have eaten at in the Charlotte/Matthews area. I ordered: alaskan roll, rainbow roll and 3 pieces of salmon sashimi. I usually order something similar to gauge how good the sushi is. Also the service was pretty bad, most of the mistakes were rude, brought us the wrong bill, took a long time, that sort of thing, so nothing overly awful, just not something enjoyable.

What I got was this: the alaskan roll was mostly cucumber, the avocado was mushy and turning brown and the salmon was almost not there, what was there was very poor quality. The rainbow roll advertised "crab meat" in the center, I got imitation crab meat. The fish that topped the rainbow roll was subpar and I even had to spit out the tuna. I chose not to eat the rest. The sashimi I ordered had some skin left on it, and large stripes of white on it (the fat), it was not cut properly nor was it truly sashimi grade salmon.

Now I don't normally dis on restaurants badly so here is the good, my husband ordered off their stir fry menu and enjoyed it, he will likely use it as an occasional lunch place.

So overall don't come for the sushi, not worth it. The rest of their menu might be worth a try...

Only the best. I have been coming here for over a year now and without a doubt this is one of the best Sushi houses around. I drive over an hour to dine here. Most places you drive to you eat there. Here you dine. The only clock is the one on your wrist. Sushi and service is great. When I come to Charlotte or Matthews there are only 2 Sushi places to go to and this is one of them

Love this Sushi Bar!!!. My husband and I had been looking for a new sushi bar ever since the one we frequented in Ballantyne closed.

We found it at One U. It is even better than the one we were going to and we have tried a lot. The best sushi in the Charlotte area. Very casual, great sushi chef, super service and excellent sushi. My husband only eats sashimi so you know it's got to be fresh.

We haven't been anywhere else since we started going there about six months ago, no need to. We LOVE it!!

Great Sushi!. This place is great. My husband and I went for lunch. I am not a sushi eater and was very happy with my hibachi chicken lunch. My husband loves sushi and he said that their sushi is one of the best that he has had in Charlotte. Almost every business that has been in this location has not survived...I sure hope this one does.. please try them out, you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic Sushi in Matthews. Had another great experience, the sushi chefs are amazing!! We don't even have to tell him what we want, he remembers our order every time...wonderful experience. Please give them a try, you will be impressed.
