Best in town!!. LOVE this place!! It's small and usually very packed, but well worth the wait! The staff is so friendly, the sushi is amazing, and everyone is always so happy in there. It's a great place to grab a beer and sushi and just enjoy the atmosphere. The sushi makers are super friendly, coming out to say Hi, and the servers treat you like long time friends. I go there every year for my birthday (you get a free meal) with friends and family. Everyone loves it as much as I do! Definitely a great 'Date Night' spot.

Small Expectations: Amazing results. New Zealand Cafe is a great stop for sushi. It's a small hole in the wall but theres is no sushi restaurant or bar in charlotte that can compare with the quality and affordability offered. Don't let the name fool you!

Atmosphere doesn't illicit a good date night but it's the perfet lunch stop!

Awesome Sushi and great chicken teriyaki VERY affordable!. Love the sushi !! Also the chicken teriyaki is great! Very affordable. This is one of the only two nearby restaurants that we really love. I highly recommend it, I am so glad it is affordable enough to go to often

Surprisingly good sushi. Heard about this place from my hairdresser - she said this was her favorite place for sushi. You wouldn't expect that from a place named "New Zealand Cafe", but according to their menu and website (Citysearch apparently won't let you write down web addresses but if you Google it, you'll get it), apparently Asian cuisine is really taking over New Zealand cuisine. We went in not expecting much but were pleasantly surprised. In addition to standard rolls, they had a decent assortment of specialty rolls. They were not huge, but nor were they skimpy. We had the Christmas roll, the spicy eel roll, and the volcano roll. All were very good, and good quality. On average, a specialty roll costs about 9 dollars, and come with 8 pieces. The place is small and inconspicuous, hidden away in a strip mall. It seats about 32, and there are another 4 seats at the small sushi bar. The waitstaff are earnest and friendly. The place started to fill up quickly, so obviously we weren't the only ones to hear about this place. We'll be going back.
