Cheap and Good Theater Going Experience.
I've been going to this theater since I've moved to the Charlotte area 3 years ago. This is the most homely theater I've been to. What it doesn't have in appearance, it makes up in all other areas.
The theater is a little out of date but is clean and presentable. The seats are comfortable for extended periods of time. The ticket prices are cheap ($8.00 for a non-matinee, less than $5-3 dollars for matinee). Food prices are standard for a theater but that's okay with me. Compared to other theaters that gouge you for ticket prices at the door, this theater is great for those wanting to escape the crowd and still enjoy their movie.
Not the greatest movie experience. Two adults and one child were $25.00. An adult ticket was $9.50 which is a premium price for a less than premium experience. Seats were dirty and there were holes in the wall. It was hard to find 3 seats together that were not filthy. There was a musty smell that lasted the entire movie. This place is has not been renovated in years and it shows.
4 stars for not catering to racists.. I have read the three reviews on this sight. I frequent this theater often, even before Regal took over. I have complaints about the cost of food in most movie theaters. They need to fix the display so people can see the times that movies play without having to ask the clerk. But I am happy that RACISTS like the other two reviewers are uncomfortable. This is a mixed community bordering Charlotte and Concord NC. No where near Ballantyne. This theater has always had a mixed audience and mixed staff. I have never had any negative incidents and I have never felt unsafe there. This local theater feels much safer than any cinema in overcrowded malls. They really, really need to get a back up generator though. The power goes out a lot. Three times while I was there.
Not anymore....
I used to frequent this movie theatre out of convenience to the area, but have recently stopped. When my movie and a small popcorn/drink puts me back OVER 20 dollars for one person, there's a problem.
Not to mention, being bombarded each time I've been there by area-teens who aren't the most pleasant to be around. The new ballantyne theatre just on exit down (johnston rd off of 4-85) has cheaper tickets during the day, and MUCH cheaper food (AND they have wine!).
I'll opt out on this theatre for now on, unless there's not another option.
