Great place to enjoy cigars!. This cigar bar is decorated with leathers and accents that remind you of the bygone era when a cigar bar was a gentleman's club (name only, as women are very welcome there too). It is a place that you could picture Dean and Frank sitting off to the side with a drink and cigar, talking over their next show billing. The wait staff are the best; they remember your name, what you like to drink, and somehow remember it all when you come back for your next visit. Superb bartenders, and a great selection of cocktails, ports, brandies, and scotches.
Very good atmosphere. Last saturday was my most recent visit. I'm always very impressed with the staff and their willingness to help and educate new customers about cigars. The food, people, drinks, staff and decor exemplifies CLASS. My wife loves the Strawberry Lemonade Martini, and she has a couple of her friends hooked on them as well. This cigar bar in one of finest on the southern end of the east coast. I have not had a complaint, after several visits.
Not what it used to be. I used to go to this place all the time back in its hey-day. It is in the perfect location for an after-show or after work smoke and the physical space is very impressive...especially since they remodeled in the spring. Rich wood and plush leather make you feel like a Vanderbuilt as you relax into a deep rich smoke which you can either provide for yourself or purchase (albeit for a handsome centercity markup) from the location's stocked humidor. They mostly stick to heavily marketed brands like Padron and Fuente so if you are looking for something rare or unique perhaps furnish your own in this catergory. The one area that I would really say this club falls short is in its inability to keep a solid staff of late. There was a wonderful barman several years ago named Jason who i think really set the bar for this place and a host of conversationalists and purveyors of finer things followed in his wake. However, the current staff seems a bit lacking in both the knowledge and attentiveness catergories. I must say in all fairness however that the last time I was in during mid July that a wondefully attractive and personable young lady who appeared to be in her late 20's or very early 30's greated me with charm and grace and her her subsequent service was a reminiscent of days of old. However I can only give this establishment 3 stars because it has reached much higher points in what I would consider it's impressive past and has much more potential that it is currently reaching.
Macanudos and Madeiras reign in the uptown Marriott's posh lounge..
In Short
One of the finest cigar bars in the Carolinas, this sophisticated space features rich woods, a cozy fireplace and a billiards room. A mix of business folks, tourists and locals frequent Cutter's for the premium stogies and the impressive drink list, which includes everything from rare port to single malt scotch. A limited menu is available, as are occasional wine tastings and cigar samplings.
