I am VERY picky and hard to please when it comes to my hair. I have been a client for almost two years now and I love this salon. Josh always does exactly what I want and my hair gets compliments all the time. Everyone there is very attentive and friendly. Josh and team have gone out of their way to meet my needs and because of this I am very loyal to Uptown Retreat.
I highly recommend this team, especially Josh, and have pretty much brought everyone in my family to him, including the blue hairs! He is wonderful! And the Uptown Retreat team is supurb!!
Great cuts and color!!!.
This salon is great! I have been going there for years and have always loved my cuts and color. I first went to Craig to correct a horrible color accident (self-inflicted) He was so kind and so careful not to damage my hair further. I have tried other salons from time to time but always go back to Craig and wonder why I EVER went anywhere else. They validate parking for the deck attached to Charlotte Plaza so parking isn't an issue.
If you want a certain style, Craig will do his best to give you what you want but also takes into consideration you hair type anda face shape. I see the work of the other stylists when I am there and they are amazing, too.
not always so professional. In my search for a stylist in a new town I was given the phone number and Chucks name. When calling I was put on hold for a long time, and when asking questions regarding my hair and prices and so forth, I was treated with a little less than professionalism. I guess they were too busy for my questions, and hurried and standoffish is not what I look for in a salon. I can not attest to the stylist first hand because I wouldnt even let it go that far.
uptown Retreat Salon and Spa. I love uptown retreat! The people there are very friendly and know how to make you feel special. I have never had a better cut or color. Chuck Smith has been doing my hair for 10 years and is one of the most kind and caring people that you will ever meet. He is a master at hair color. Craig, Josh and Michelle are all very educated in hair color and cutting. Try Uptown Retreat and you won't be disappointed.
Great Experience...Great Stylist(s)....
I work uptown and pass Uptown Retreat each time I make my Venti Mocha pick up @ Starbucks. :)
I really wanted highlights and I wanted them done RIGHT so I stopped by to see if anyone there had experience with "ethnic" hair first of all and to see who did color best. I was introduced to Craig; he was very friendly and started telling me all about color and highlights. I booked an appointment for the next day and to make a long story short, he hooked me up! :-p
Craig, a master of his profession/owner of salon (I think), his assistant Trudy and everyone else was extremely nice. He explained the colors he had lined up that would give me what I wanted. I didn't even have to explain or say too much and that's a definite plus in my book. He's extremely knowledgeable, FAST and the prices aren?t ?high" they're comparable to any other high end professional salon and spa here or elsewhere. Always remember - you get what you pay for.
Every person and every business has not so good days so don't let the negative review steer you away from Uptown Retreat. It sounds like more of a personal review anyway. It's nice, the atmosphere is calming and the people there are cool. Check it out.
Chuck is a gifted hair stylist, that I have to admit. But respect and caring about people is just as important to me and I'm disappointed to know that Chuck and his caring conversation are nothing more than a actor on a stage. Don't think for one minute that this place, owners or staff, care about you or your continued visits. You are just dollars and nothing more! I should have believed the reviews I read on other sites about them and their staff, but never until just recently found out how shallow this salon is. Let me explain:
I have been a very long-time customer to Chuck. Actually followed him from his previous place of employment and have been with him since he moved up to an owner... so quite some time. Only to find that when it really came down to it, having me for a customer was great as long as it wasn't any inconvenience to them or their staff. I realize and appreciate he has his hours to work, but I know if it was me... I would have made an exception to someone who had been a customer for over 7 years and was only seen every 6 weeks. I would work over once every six weeks to keep a dedicated customer and what I thought was a friend.
But to make this long story shorter. Chuck will not even return a phone call to recommend another salon or person. Talk about dropping a customer with total lack of care and concern. Disappointed is an understatement. Chuck knows all too well how difficult it was for me to trust someone with my hair, but he didn't he care enough to return a phone call to someone who has been dedicated and bragged on him for 7 years. Shame on you for being such a bad and disrespectful person.
