Editorial Review for Saigon Cafe – by Staci Falkowitz

The Scene
Open and airy, Saigon Cafe is comfortable and elegant, with contemporary architecture and a warm, subtle color scheme. Sit in one of three dining areas or relax with a pre-dinner cocktail at the full bar. Servers are informal but will go out of their way to make your dining experience a good one.

The Food
Food lovers will be delighted with the exotic Vietnamese, Thai and French creations of chefs Be Phan and Axel Dikkers, two notable Charlotte talents. You'll find tender baby eggplants baked with velvety goat cheese and toasted pine nuts, along with delicate, fresh spring rolls served with a spicy peanut sauce. The chicken coconut curry is a real treat, combining carrots, potatoes and lemon grass with just the right balance of spices. Homemade desserts include a unique ginger flan with caramel sauce and a delightful hazelnut croquant with a smooth, mousse-like filling and chocolate crust.

A friend and I tried to find this restaurant. It no longer exists and there is a japanese restaunt in it's old location, whose food was not up to par in view of the price. If you want thai food go to Bankock Ocha on Hwy 51.

i wish reviewers would stop looking at the superficial things and examine what matters to diners. this restaurant may look nice, but the food is mediocre in all of its attempted cultures. also, it's completely overpriced.
