The Food
Chef-owner Giovanni Buskulic's elegant eatery offers traditional northern and southern Italian fare at affordable prices. Start with the fresh steamed mussels, accented nicely by a white wine garlic sauce; skip the stuffed mushrooms, which aren't especially flavorful. Fettuccine Giovanni, the chef's namesake, is a mixed bag, with a sweet pink cream sauce that highlights the succulent shrimp but fails to compensate for somewhat rubbery scallops. A standout is the chicken campagnolla, a stew-like dish filled with spicy Italian sausage, potatoes, peppers, and mushrooms. Bread is made by Nova's, a local bakery; desserts are also brought in. Coffee served in an individual press is a nice touch.
