A family-friendly chain offering creative variations on familiar Cajun standbys in a casual setting.. In Short
This namesake chain of prolific Louisiana restaurateur Al Copeland has spread quickly since its 1983 opening. The Southern-charmed interior is a plantation setting with rich wood trim against warm-colored walls. Office mates stop in for quick lunches, but families take advantage of the reasonably priced kids menu at dinner. Copeland's wide-ranging menu has traditional fare like hamburgers and chicken melts, but is known for Creole and Cajun dishes such as eggplant pirogue and blackened chicken.

CLOSED. This location is no longer in business. Somewhat surprising to us although the last time we ate lunch there, it was virtually empty on a Sunday afternoon.

A quiet Saturday afternoon. If you are looking for a place that is intimate and quiet on a Saturday afternoon head to Copeland's. The two of us enjoyed a nice quiet meal at 1pm this past Saturday (now it may have been because it was Labor Day weekend) nevertheless, along with the quiet atmosphere, the beautifully displayed food (catfish stuffed with crab, corn sucatash, steamed vegetables (slightly crunchy), and a lovely waitress (Genevieve) who showered great attention on us, I would say that it scored a strong 8. It is a little difficult to get to as turning on Harris T Blvd can be difficult when crossing 4 lanes of traffic which requires careful attention to the correct light to turn at.

authentic cajun food. This is autentic cajun food. I have had very good service on the many times that I have been to this restraunt. The food has always been excellent, and only once did we have less than excellant service. You have to understand that waitresses and waiters may have bad days, and this should not be held against the restraunt. The thing to do if bad service is received, you need to let the management know and let this be reflected in your tip, if any is given. I do not let bad service go without at least a coment to the hostess, or matre de.

Disappointing service. Food's ok (although they often mistake "rich" for "tasty") but the service stunk. One of our party of 9 didn't get his entree untill the rest of us were done eating. After dinner, several of us ordered cafe au lait - which arrived as black coffee. We explained the "with milk" part of the name and our waiter argued until we showed him the description in his own menu.
