Great food, excellent service and a beautiful restaurant.. My friends and I enjoyed lunch at Zebra yesterday and we had a wonderful time. Our server was Jonny who quickly sold me on the catch of the day and the souffl
As employee of Bank of America this restaurant offers a discount which much more like cheating ,because there is no clue about limitation before payment. So be aware if you want to order coupons from discount & benefit program, first call them to know about tons of limitations. Also you have to pay %20 mandatory tips for below average services. However the food quality is good if is not cold. But I was expecting something different for the price -$ 100 for two without drink-
I never recommend this restaurant.
Double coupons? Really? Does BofA give 60% anything?
What is happening to this Restaurant??.
I have enjoyed this restaurant for years and was looking forward to enjoying a wonderful lunch here.
Two things were a great disappointment: First, When I asked where the shrimp came from I was finally told Thailand -- They say freshest seafood in Charlotte ---- I think not.
And then when I could not tolerate the rancid taste of a soup I was informed that the chef and waiter had deemed the soup delicious and that it was probably that I did not appreciate the Thai taste of curry, etc.
Please do not insult the customer when there is a complaint!
Finally, I tried to contact the management of Zebra through the website but no contact information gave me the opportunity to make a complaint to management through email.
It was a true disappointment to be treated to rudely at one of my favorite restaurants.
I am Jim Alexander, owner of Zebra.
I swear to God we only use domestic white shrimp
at Zebra! My business practices are transparent...glad to open my kitchen to you and show you personally.
My staff will be reminded of this fact!
Not sure about the soup of the day...definately appreciate your comments and I will use your comments as a training device for my staff!
I am hopeful we can make amends to you in person.

Very Special Dining Experience. This was our first visit and it exceeded our expectations. Our server treated us as special guests. He patiently but enthusiastically explained the menu, and throughout the course of our dinner ensured that we enjoyed each course. We had two fish entrees; swordfish and Dover sole. The swordfish was topped with poached lobster to create a rich and sweet contrast to the swordfish. This was served on a bed of ratatouille to create a finely balanced array of tastes and textures. The almond encrusted Dover sole was also a delicate delight! And don't leave without experiencing the souffle of the day and coffee! Exquisite!
Horrendous Service. I bought a Groupon for this restaurant and couldn't wait to go there. I brought 2 friends with me and we were all excited to have an excellent meal. When walking up to the restaurant we saw 2 chefs walking out, but it really didn't register with us that this was going to be a problem. After being seated it took 15 minutes for our waiter to find us and take a drink order. It took him another 30 minutes to come back and take our order AND we had to ask him what the specials were, he never offered to tell us. The restaurant ran out of bread rolls by 7:30P. The waiter also came back and told us they had run out of the special fish for the evening and also had no lobster. We re-ordered. The table next to us told us they had waited an hour for their main course and when it arrived it was cold! Sure enough, when our main courses arrived the duck was cold, the beef was a piece of shoe leather after being asked to cook it as rare as possible. And finding the waiter all night long was always like being on a scavenger hunt. Fortunately we spoke to the manager and he confessed 2 chefs quit that evening and he wound up comping our meal. It'll be a long time before I venture back into this place - but I still have the Groupon I did pay for!
best restaurant that I have eaten at.In Charlotte. i have been to BLT, Sonoma, Ember grill, and many other restaurants in Charlotte. Zebra was the best in my opinion. the food and the service was unmatched; the servers were knowledgeable in wine ad made great suggestions for my wine and food parring. truly an unmatchable experience.
Amazing cuisine and ambiance.
We were greeted with class and elegance. I would expect nothing less from this fine establishment. When coming in the door the aroma was mouthwatering. This was my third time at Zebra's. I find the visit to Zebra’s an experience that’s best shared with a fine date. This is important to me as my date was impressed by the experience. This truly helped that make the night memorable. The food was mighty tasty to enhance the overall experience.
I expect and maintain high standards in my food. The chef made it his top priority to insure the food not only tasted good but had the appearance that’s worth capturing in a picture. The food was incredible. I started with a succulent sea scallops with olive oil and light lemon flavor and had the mussels which were excellent. Then the second course came. We didn’t have to wait or ask for anything. The waiter allowed me to not only enjoy my meal but also the good conversation with my beautiful date. We had a salad with braised beets. I don’t even like beets. I wait staff had no problems with me trying it and sending it back for something different. There was no need it was delicious. Our main course was a Flounder topped with tender juicy lobster over a tender risotto covered in a sauce to die for. The waiter was courteous and made us feel important. They allowed me to enjoy the meal and still made time to insure our water was filled and that we were well taken of while he continue waiting on other customers. The service was five stars and the food tasted great and had an appealing presentation.
Thanks for making another birthday meal an experience worth sharing with others.
So Rude. Messed Up reservation & then insulted me.
They put my reservation on the wrong date. When asked to fix it, they said sorry, there is nothing they could do. When asked to please offer something to make up for it (must have some room for walk-ins they could adjust), Max the manager said, "I'd love to hire a contractor & build you a room, but that just won't happen by Saturday."
When asked what would happen if we had just showed up vs. calling to confirm the reservation, I was told "You wouldn't have been seated & would have been sent somewhere else."
I went in the next day to complain to the owner. I asked very nicely what could be done. He apologized & said nothing several times & literally opened the door & KICKED ME OUT! I can't yell, as I had surgery to remove a possible cancerous growth in my throat. I had my young children with me, so I was quite polite (disappointed, but, polite). All he had to do was offer apologies & to invite us to dessert & a glass of wine on him after we ate else where. He would have ended up making $$ on us, as we would have hung around.
SOOOO RUDE. NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.
My comment is that I am truly sorry this lady is so angry.
She never gave us a chance to try and resolve her situation...she instead told us what we were going to do...
spewing venom like a rattler...and her kid was riding our
zebra statue my Dad gave me...really?
As for a review...she never has dined with us.
Beautiful decor not much else. It very a very intimate enviroment but I ordered chicken and well it was very dry and tasteless. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Will not go back.
