Wonderful Anniversary. My boyfriend and I went to Aquavina for our one year anniversary. We were a bit hesitant because of some of the negative ratings on this sight, but were pleasantly surprised. The food was great, as most had mentioned, but our service was great as well. Scott did an excellent job helping us understand both the menu and the large wine list. The seafood was prepared in an awesome way and its taste was no different than its appearance. Overall, this was one of the best dinners that I have had and would highly recomend it to anyone

Never ever again. My husband and I have a date every Friday night and after reading last months Charlotte City Mag we decided to give Aquavina a try. Service was corpse like and food was tastless! Sole tasted like the bottom of my shoe. Portions are minimal. Guess we should have known since we were the only people there at 7 pm on a Friday night. Makes you wonder. Don't go!

Ringin' in New Years 2006. We made reservations for 4 New Years Eve. Were seated promptly. Waiter recommended the 5 course meal being offered especially for New Years; we accepted recommendation. Very disappointed! Main course was supposed to be lobster and filet mignon; "lobster" was served in a sauce ladeled over the filet; not a lobster tail as expected (cost was $80 per person, not including drinks, so you'd think tail, not sauce!). All food was served lukewarm, not at intended temp. Cost of meal did not match quality of food by any means! Probably will not go again, and definitely NOT for a special occasion!

W-O-W. I come to Aquavina probably three times a month and every time I leave I want to personally thank the chef. I am forever intrigued by what my experience will be like the next time, and the next time... What more can I say other than brilliant? This seafood restaurant is both inviting and delectable! Last night Chef Jason Pound served his Lobster Bisque as a delightful beginner to his most famous preparation of deer. Just one of the 10 new items from his newly prepared menu. (I happened to notice). I recommend bringing EVERY date to this same place to secretly indulge yourself time and time again. (She will never know!) Or you could always come for a classy and relaxing atmosphere where the servers cater to you above their expectationsand in a timely manner, I must say!

Food 10; Service 3. This place has excellent and creative food with a fantastic chef. Too bad the wait staff doesn't care if you get what you ask for or not. My wife and I used to eat here once a week -- not anymore. For the class of restaurant this is you expect better service. On good days the service is acceptable, on bad days it is downright horrid. Forget about regular drink refils here and try not to ask for anything special, they will walk away only hearing half of your request then complain when you tell them they did it wrong -- I'm talking about simple things, like bringing salt AND pepper!

That out of my system, the catfish over hominy and spinich is to die for. Try the Pimento Macaroni and Cheese, too. Ask for bread, the hot rolls are worth the aggrevation of asking for bread.

User review by scooterbug. I held my rehearsal dinner at Aquavina and was delighted with the service & food! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone planning a group dinner. We had our cocktail hour on the terrace, followed by dinner in the private dining room. It was lovely & intimate!

Exceptional seafood. This was the most exceptional seafood I have ever eaten. The restaurant is beautiful and the service acceptable, but the food was truly remarkable. You should try the amber seared scallops or the ahi tuna over beluga lentils. They also have great salads, desserts, and a great view of the park from their outdoor patio. I thought I was back in San Francisco. I would dine here every week if my budget permitted, but I am willing to pay for fresh seafood prepared by this talented chef.

Needs a little attention. They say its hard to spend a lot a cheap places, but at this restaurant its hard to spend a lot because no-one is there to take your order. After finally getting noticed, I took the servicer's advice and had the grilled mahi. While the sauce, the custard and the accompanying lobster tail were awesome, the center piece mahi was overcooked (i.e. dry and tough). I'd give this place a second go 'round, but with much lower expectations.
