God Awful!. I tried Aquavina this past weekend. Not a good idea. I had been there in the past and did not have the best experience but thought to try it again. The place looks nice from the inside but you can't judge a book by its cover, can you? The food took forever and service was just OK. The server was very inexperienced. I expect a whole lot more with a fine dining restaurant. On top of everything, they were out of the fresh catch (which is why I went to a seafood restaurant) and the wine that I wanted. One meal came out 5 minutes after the first. Management needs to get it together. I will tell people not to go back there. This place is not worth it.

Poor Service. My wife and I went there to have dinner before a show at the Knight Theater which is across the street. We were greeted very nice and were seated, after which the waiter came up and took our drink orders. 15 minutes later we still did not have our drinks. We saw our waiter serving others, but apparently since we only wanted water we weren't worth his time.

We went back to the hostess and requested to speak to the manager. I saw the hostess go talk to someone, who left and had the waiter come speak to us. The waiter came out and with a non-chalant tone asked if we were leaving. We again asked for a manager, and the person the hostess spoke to in the first place came out. When we told him we had waited 15 minutes just for water, he acted like he could care less and snidely said sorry. Of course we then told him we would not eat there again and all he said was o.k.

If you are going to eat before a show, go to Ratcliff instead. They gave us great service after the atrocity we received at Aquavina

Fun and Modern Restaurant!!. Tonight my boyfriend and I ate at Aquavina for the first time. We had a few drinks in the "Wine Room" which had an amazing wine list and a great bartender! After that, we had dinner on the outside terrace which was beautiful; again with great service. We were unaware that it was restaurant week but were extremely pleased with the deals they had to offer. The seafood was so fresh and my boyfriend (a meat and potatoes guy) LOVED the steaks. We will definitely be back!!

Great for a date!. We recently went on a date here, and both liked this restaurant. The menu was a little hard to understand (first timers), but the waiter explained their "3-4 way" entrees. I had the sablefish (with the sides from the sole), and it was awesome! The sides were so good, and a little funky. I am a plain picky eater, and I loved it. The shrimp was a little on the spicy side, and the potatoes were different and great. I left very full, in fact, I couldn't quite finish it. My fiance had the surf n turf 3 ways. It was so good, that we'd like to bring his brother, who is a sous chef there. All 3 looked amazing, and he was surprised to like them all (He sticks to plain filet mignon). The different presentations were tasty and impressive. The atmosphere is modern and cozy, and there is a cool wine room right next door. It is perfect for any date! Highly recommended!

trying too hard. I had a meal at Aquavina while visiting Charlotte. Despite its reputation, the food was completely ordinary. The "this and that" three ways or four ways is just trying too hard for a restaurant that hasn't quite mastered the "one way" meal. I started with the Aquavina salad. Interesting presentation, but the salad itself was so ordinary and bland. The roquefort toasts on which it was served were not tasty enough; the dressing was too sweet and not flavorful and the greens weren't fresh enough, in part because they were bathed in dressing so that they felt wilted. The cranberries were a nice touch however...My main course, the salmon, was simply non-descript. It didn't have enough flavor to invoke anything other than a flaky fish. The greens were bitter and gross and the grits...well who likes grits really??? Anyway, I would not recommend this restaurant except to maybe some very unsophisticated eaters...The wine, on the other hand, was quite well selected and quite nice. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Keep trying, just not so hard.
