The worst place I have ever eaten at. Don’t go hear after 1:00 am. We left a bar to look for food and we ended up hear. Big mistake should have gone to McDonald’s instead.
We showed up we asked if the kitchen was still open before we were seated and they told us yes. We sat outside, ordered food and a beer. The waitress offered us a bucket of beer instead and we told her ok. When the food came out the wings were not cooked we had to send them back this was around 130 when the waitress came back she told us they could not re-grill them or make more because they had already closed the kitchen so they took it odd the bill. Than the waitress told us we needed to go ahead and pay so they could close the registers. After she brought the bill back they turned off the outside lights so we were left in the dark to finish our dinner and drinks. We asked a waitress if they could turn the lights back on and she said she would have to see and rolled her eyes. At 145 the manager came to the door and told us we needed to leave. We told him we still had a bucket of beer to finish that his staff sold us. We told him it was rude that he turned off the lights after we paid and he just said wow and walked away. He came back to the door every 5 mins and stared at us until we left at 2:00 which is when most bars downtown close. On their website it says full menu untill 2:00. Even the Gin Mill next door still had a packed house. We will never eat here again. Most unprofessional staff I have ever seen. The food sucked too. STAY AWAY!!!
Best Chicken Tenders ever! – I love this place. They have the best chicken tenders i've ever had! If you haven't tried the parmesan lemon pepper you should! It's my favorite thing of theirs. Now the service kind of sucks at the bar. Even when no one is there I find myself waiting for quite awhile when trying to order anything.
Headed Downhill – I don't know what it is about this place but I always end up here when I go out in Charlotte. It's a great hole in the wall type of bar. But lately, the service has been...well, bad. I'm in the service industry and it just seems like everyone is bored. We all know a bored server gives the worst service. The foods not been all that great lately either. I used to come in and had this regular server, sweet little redhead. She was always attentive and conversational. Last few times I've been in she hasn't been there and I hope she hasn't left! Tavern can be a great pub, they just have some kinks to work out!
Good South End Place To Grab Food and Catch A Game – Being a new resident of the south end neighborhood I seem to be dining at a lot of the restaurants I have been in before, but never really stood out in my mind to make a trip to. That's a good thing when it comes to Tavern.
The atmosphere is welcoming, although pretty dim lighting. The waitstaff and bar staff are friendly and attentive. The food is pretty good for pub food. All of the menu items I have ordered were extremely large portions and well worth the money spent.
There aren't too many drink specials at Tavern, but that's probably a good thing or this place would be packed solid every day. That being said, the prices are well within fair for the area. On thursdays they do have corona and corona light bottles on special which makes a good summer night.
Definitely check it out, don't be turned away by the dim and rustic atmosphere it adds to the experience!
i've never had a bad dish from here! – i have recently started going to Tavern for lunch. i love all the dishes they offer. i've seriously never had anything bad from here. i'm not a huge fan on the interior... very dark and dingy. i recommend getting the food to go, but you will enjoy every bite of it!
Good food – Food is good here, reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. There are tv's located throughout the restaurant but it's hard to see more than 3 from wherever you're sitting without really straining your neck. Not a place that I'd want to stay the entire night, but a good place to have dinner and begin the evening. If you like Buffalo sports, then this is place for you.
VERY AUTHENTIC FISH FRY JUST LIKE IN BUFFALO! – We have found 9 out of 10 times we've had their famous fish fry it's been GREAT! A perfect crispness outside and very nice & meaty inside--and not fishy tasting. They give you a huge piece if not two pieces, plus two sides and the sides are not skimpy! You can even get a salad as a side and they don't do the iceburg lettuce there--it's the good mixed greens. The tartar sauce is delicious, too---the perfect taste accompaniment to this fish. Everything is homemade last I heard and it tastes like it.
Their beef on weck rivals some of the great ones in Buffalo--honestly! We've been amazed. The wings--another item rivaling some of the best in Buffalo!---you can get them extra crisp if you want and they are perfectly done and delicious! The bleu cheese is great as a dip or for a salad dressing--homemade, too. Also, there is hardly anything having MSG in it-- THIS IS GREAT!!
They had a lobster ravioli that is really great, too. Eating outside under the heaters was always nice if you wanted to get away from inside--sometimes a bit smokey or noisy depending on the sport season.
We've brought many northerners here and they were very impressed, too!
We'll be back!
Nothing Special – mediocre service and food. I've tried this place many times and each time it gets worse. If you sit at the bar expect to wait awhile for the bartender whose sitting down eating during lunch time to get your check to you
it was 5 stars at one point!!! – I have been coming to Tavern for about 4 years, and attend about every Sunday for the Bills games, however, since I starterd bringing my family up there for the games, it's been increasingly difficult to get a table....even if we get there before noon. We cannot sit at the bar, and have asked to be put on the list for a table, but even then, once a table clears, people not on the list just walk up and sit down, leaving myself and my family to fend for ourselves. But people can reserve tables.....why cant we??? If things dont chance we will be forced to find somewere else to watch the games!
Great Service – I was in Tavern on the Tracks in Sept. and I usually come in when on buisness and love the place. But it has changed!!! No warm welcoming. The service is usually great, But it was horrible. I remember being waited on by a girl with blond hair and I believe her name was sara. She was not there when I came in, but she is amazing, anything I needed she was right there with a smile and was the best waitress, I have ever seen. I am very disappointed with the service and the food was okay, it is usually so much better. I believe things need to change before I ever go back in there. You really need some quailfied people working in your restaurant.
