Not worth the money – From the front of the house, to the food, this restaurant was very below average. The server never smiled, and she acted as though she was doing us a great favor by serving us. I requested salsa verde with the chips, and she said they don't serve that type of salsa with chip. She never said, "I would be happy to get you that for a small charge, etc.". The food was overpriced and not overly tastey. I had shrimp diablo with overdone shrimp and huge chunks of onion. Diablo is generally very hot, but not their dish. Another person in our party had shrimp tacos, and they contained salsa verde! The third person had a steak burrito that consisted of very chewy beef. We do not plan to return to this mediocre, over-priced restaurant.
the drinks were better than the cockroach – Well, right after I told my husband how nice the atmostphere/music was, he looked down and saw a cockroach belly up on my side of the table. The food was fine. Nothing to write home about, but the cockroach was a downer esp. after we waited for 30+ minutes for a table.
The bartender was great, but she took my husbands' mother(-of-pearl) bleeping Crown and Ginger back to the back to make it -- taking with her, the bottle of Crown. Was it actually used out back? We'll never know....
Good food but... – We got a sit pretty fast but we waited over 30 mins to be served, and the table next to us who got there 20 mins after us were served way before us. I had to practicaly grab the waiter to get our drinks. The staff was less than cordial. Prices where not too bad and the food was pretty good but at the end of the night, we where charged 3 times even thought we signed only one receipt. We called them up the next day for an explanation and they said it would take up to 3 business days to get this fixed. The waiter coud have had the decency to warn us and be upfront about it, but he was obviously too concerned about his tip. If we don't get our money back we will have to fight for it with the bank. Not the perfect ending for a nice romantic evening. Don't fall for their cozy mexican looks, they are not worth it and there are better mexican restaurants in town if you value your money and time.
Don't go here for good Mexian – I am not usually one to think of writing a bad review, but this meal was awful. I ordered the shrimp tacos. 5 peices of overcooked shrimp were put in a flour tortilla with a couple peices of chopped tomato and onion. THATS IT. I asked the waiter if this was correct, he didnt really offer much assistance. I paid $14 for a few pieces of overcooked shrimp in a tortilla shell!!! OH and the chips with the chips and salsa were stale!! I Knew I should have gone to Cantina 1511!!!!!!
Very Good Mexican Food – I am on a mission to find some really fantastic Mexican food in the Charlotte area (and I am using some places in the Austin, TX area as my basis for comparison). While my quest is not over yet, we will certainly be going back to Senor Tequila's.
The atmosphere is much better than some of the other more commercialized / less authentic places. Seating is limited, especially when the outside section is not open so go early. Bar space is also limited.
The service was good, with the waiter taking the time to walk us through the many Margarita options and dinner selections.
Chips and salsa were adequate. Better chips and salsa would certainly improve the overall rating. For main courses, we went with the Chicken Enchiladas Verde and the Steak Burrito Tequila. The burrito was excellent, but the enchiladas were a little bland for my taste. The black beans were better than the refried ones. And the flan was the highlight of the meal. Wow.
Best Hispanic/Mexican Food EVER!!! – I have been going to Senor Tequila's since it opened. I no longer live in NC but even if I have a long enough layover there, Senor Tequila's is a must have stop. Their Burritto Tequila is my favorite with a few changes but I have never had a bad meal there. Basically, the food, service and ambience are all TOPS! Senor Tequila's is a "family" run small time restaurant that gives a BIG happy return. As far as my family is concerned this restaurant is worth planning a trip to Charlotte for and we don't live close.
A VET ACCOMIDATING MEXICAN RESTAURANT. – A very nice restaurant that has a great wait staff and some very tasty food.
It is located at Piper Glenn where Trader Joes has made their new home.
A fine dining experience with very affordable prices.
TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Best all around Mexican in Charlotte! – I am a frequent out to eat restaurant visitor and this is the best kept secret in South Charlotte! Senor Tequila is always a tasty treat and I eat there at a minimum of once a week. No lie! We get take-out from there or we go and sit down. The take-out is just as good as the eat-in. I have tried at least 7 menu items and have not been disappointed yet. The salsa is phenomenal and the mojitos and margaritas cannot be beat. Cinco de Mayo is so much fun. For 2006, they had a DJ and all the margaritas you can drink. The service is the best by far. The waitstaff is always friendly and knows us by name/face because we eat there so much. Oscar, the owner, is the friendliest man and his wife is great as well. They have created the best atmosphere and food/drink combination you can imagine. Try it out during the World Cup too. They have a big screen projection TV that plays soccer non-stop during the tourney. The waitstaff is not afraid to discuss which side they are on as well. Makes it a fun and very personal place to eat. For us, it's like eating at home. Enjoy!
Food is excellent, service is always with a smile, Love the topshelf margaritas! – Senor Tequila's is a very pleasant hidden little treat in the general madness of Charlotte eateries. Food always tastes good, the price will surprise you, and the service is handled with the customer being the important item, and there are lots of smiling faces that produce a light and pleasant atmosphere. You don't speak spanish??? Don't worry there is someone in the restaurant that will understand what item on the menu to which you are pointing. Don't go there without ordering at least one of the topshelf margaritas. These people know how to fix a drink. Be careful not to go there more than once a week.....your clothes will not fit properly by the end of the month.
