Tips for Dillinger's Tap Room

First and Last Time for Us. We chose this restaurant purely because we had an Entertainment coupon and thought we might as well check it out on a beautiful autumn Saturday afternoon around 3:30PM.

We were immediately struck by how ridiculously LOUD the place was. Yes, there was a football game on -- but the place had not more than 20 people and the audio was BLARING. Absolutely pointlessly painfully LOUD.

To make things worse, the bartender punctuated the din by throwing empty beer bottles into a barrel like he was TRYING to make as loud of a glass-on-glass crash as possible. Unnecessary, startling and disruptive.

The food was pretty poor. We ordered the nachos and a cobb salad. The nachos would have been good except for the SUPER-salty fake cheese goo flooding the plate. For $9, is real cheese too much to expect? The cobb was OK, but skimpy on the toppings for a $9 salad.

We did have a fantastic server who did anything she could to make us welcome -- and in all fairness to the restaurant, we didn't complain about the food. We figured that since the management was oblivious to the way-louder-than-necessary volume on the tv's and the beer-bottle-bashing-bartender, the food was as they intended it to be.

We won't be back.

Decent sports bar. This place has the potential to be a good sports bar with the # of TV's, however they're not very good at putting on more than 1 game at a time and most of the TV's are not HD. Thankfully, they have Coors Light at $2 all of the time which makes up for it. Other than that, it's nothing special.

Great for Football fans. Food is good, service is good- it can be very loud and smokey. Lots of TVs for sports fans. Great place for big parties.

great in the daytime, but avoid like the plague at night. stool pigeon's in mathews has turned into the sorriest excuse for a sports bar i have ever seen. they have criminal types that hang there and harass customers with no reprisals from their management. the wait staff has the crappiest work ethic i have ever seen. it takes forever to get a refill on your beer. twice now i and my friends have gotten into arguments with the staff because they padded our bill. i actually had a guy pull a knife on me and say he was going to gut someone while me and my friend were trying to shoot pool. i have tried to reason with the management to no avail. i used to like going there ayear ago,but now its only good(at nighttime) for the lowest character of people. go during the day, but it will be a cold day in hell before i go there at nighttime again.

Horrible, abolutely terrible service. We went to Pigeons last night for the State-VT game, and never, ever will we do that again. It took more than a half hour for a waitress to notice us, and another 15 minutes before we got menus and some drinks. If we wanted anything at all, it took more than 10 minutes to flag any waitress down. And we literally flagged them down by having several of us wave our arms in the air. When there was only a minute left to the game, I had to hunt down the waitress to get our check. If you want to go to a bar to watch a game, you should avoid going to Stool Pigeons, unless you like being ignored.

Great place. I spent afew hours watching Carolina get killed about 3 weeks ago. The ribs were great and the beer was cold. Couldn't ask for a better Sunday afternoon.

good times. i don't know what happened to some of the others, but I've never had a bad experience here. Great drink specials every night, never more than $2 for coors light (so what if it's watered down). Decent pub fare. Good crowds for games. Plenty of tv's and big bar. I think that hits on basically every part of a sports bar.
