Tips for Woodlands

This place is great for vegetarians an vegans alike. Even meat eaters can enjoy the menu thanks to the delicious blend of spices. It's a little off the normal route I take but well worth the drive. Kids like this place too.

It was a Friday night and we were in need of some take out. I remembered this as one of the restaurants I have bookmarked. Sure glad I did.

The samosa's (#7 on starters menu) were incredibly flaky and cooked to a golden perfection. The inside was full of flavor and the chutney and other green sauce that accompanied it were like a flavor explosion in my mouth.

Speaking of explosions... wow that vindaloo was like a volcanic eruption in my mouth, damn that was spicy, I'm sweatin' just thinking about it... but I braved it out and finished it (took me three days, yep I'm a whimp to a degree!) It tasted incredible over my poached eggs for breakfast the next day.

But what I really loved was the Malai Kofta (#13 on the curries section), these were heavenly.... the potato dumplings were not heavy at all... carrots, peas, raisins stewed together in a lovely saffron based sauce with cashew and almond. This was incredible! You know... vegetarian food should not be caloric... damn it because I would have used a straw to suck down that sauce like a milkshake!

I got a cup of the tomato soup... well more like broth... interesting to say the least. I would save this for a rainy day when you're sick and can't keep anything down.

And of course, garlic naan to boot... really de-lish as well. It all came with basmati rice...

The man behind the counter said this would not feed the three of us... are you kidding me?!! I had leftovers for three days!

At first I was going to say it is quite pricey, but since I got three days of food out of this one visit, I'd say it is well worth it.

Can't wait to go back and try some more goodies!

My vegan husband and I met in Charlotte on short notice this weekend, and were happy to find this place. The waitstaff were good and friendly, and pointed out the few non-vegan items on the buffet for him. We used the free Wi-Fi. The buffet was diverse and tasty, and the decor and bathrooms were nice. The price for the buffet was very reasonable, and one look at the diverse menu made us wish they were located closer to us in Knoxville.

AMAZING FOOD! Our family has known these people for years and they always provide the best service possible when we go to the restaurant. Woodlands has catered food for me a couple of times, and I always receive great feed back from the guest. Great food, wonderful people, and fabulous service. You can't get any better Indian vegetarian food around here. We would give Woodlands *5* Stars anytime, anyday!

Don't GO! This was the worst dining experience I've ever had at an Indian restaurant. My family and I used to go here regularly, but it's been a while and the food has really slipped in quality. Worse, the wait staff is obnoxious - the type of obnoxious I've only ever encountered in Manhattan. My husband, son and mother in law all ordered the buffet. I have a stomach condition that makes it impossible for me to eat a lot, and my daughter is only 3 and doesn't eat much. I asked if we could share a buffet. They told me no, they would charge for my daughter. I opted for an appetizer that I shared with her. Meanwhile, when it was time to go they refused to allow us to take the leftover masala dosa that comes with the buffet. Instead, they insisted on throwing away the dosa, grabbing it off the table right in front of us. When I complained, they argued with me.

This is NOT the best Indian food in Charlotte, not by a long shot. You can find much better food and service elsewhere, but this place has managed to build itself a reputation for being the only veg Indian restaurant. They're not. We won't be going back. If I want rude wait staff and mediocre food, I can always go for fast food.

WORST SERVICE! Do yourself a favor and stay away from the headstrong lady who runs this place! You can get similar food elsewhere....and with dignity....instead of some arrogant lady shoving food at you! I wish there was negative rating.......I hope she learns some manners...and knows how to speak to customers!

Delicious Vegetarian Food. My husband and I have been going to Woodlands almost every week for over the last year or longer. Our experience has always been a very positive experience. The owners are very friendly and helpful in explaining what the different dishes are and how they are made. The food has always been delicious, healthy & priced very reasonably. We enjoy the buffet a lot because it gives us a variety of all their dishes. The food is always hot & fresh!!! We recommend this Vegetarian Restaurant to all our friends. We enjoy the ambiance - casual, peaceful & friendly - and of course the food!!! I am not surprised that they have a 5 star rating!!!!!

As good as NYC restaurants. I found Woodlands while checking out reviews for Indian restaurants in Charlotte. The food was every bit as good as the food found at Indian restaurants in NYC. In fact the dosas were actually better. All the dishes I had were freshly prepared.

The owners were very nice too.

I can't wait to eat at Woodlands the next time I'm in Charlotte.
