Worst Itallian Food in Gaston County. Me and my mother went to Portofino's Italian restaurant in Gastonia last night. (2/17/12) The atmosphere was okay but the food was horrendous. I ordered an order of Garlic Cheese bread, but there was nothing garlic about it at all, there were no herbs or spices used just bread with cheese on it, I only paid four dollars for it but was still dissapointed, i've had better stuff from the grocery store. I got the zuppa de pesce and the marinara was water with red grease in it. there was no thickness to it it looked like red water, I drained it into a bowl for my mussel shells and nearly filled the entire bowl. My mom's lasagna was rectangular and the beef was like pastey her sauce tasted exactly like Campbell tomato soup, the server was nice but I made him take my bowl of red grease to the manager only had to pay for my meal and the "garlic cheese bread" and my bowl of old shellfish and red water grease, do yourself a favor never give your money to these people there Italian is more like spaghettios and chef boyardee Go to Olive Garden at least they have respect for real Italian food and Italy
worst experience. I have had the worst experience at Portofino's. I went with my husband and 4 year old son on 10/4/10 at 8:45pm. We wanted pizza and chose Portifino's. My husband said he was called a name a year ago at this restaurant but I didnt believe him. Last night we walked in Portifino's my son wanted to eat in. No one wanted to seat us, when we finally sat down a waitress placed bread on the table and said your waitress is coming. That waitress never came, no one took our order. Finally we caught a waitress who herself didnt think our service was appropriate. But she made excuses for the treatment. The last thing i wanted to believe was that i was treated badly because of the color of my skin. Every staff person made it very obvious that black people are not welcome in Portofino's. Regardless of how we where treated we maintained our composure and paid for our meal and left. As we where leaving the cook was very loud and said goodbye very sarcasticlly and in may different languages. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE, as a hard working citizen customer services is very important and regardless of what I felt about someone i still provide a service and they would receive nothing but my best.
GREAT PLACE GOOD FOOD AND GOOD WINE. THEY HAVE I GOOD PRICE AND GOOD ATMOSFER FOR BE IN GASTONIA.I FEEL LIKE IM IN ITALY WHEN I AM THERE!!
