Average shopping center with convenient location. It's just your average suburban shopping center, with decent chain restaurants, a few overpriced boutiques and a movie theater. I'm from Miami, Florida where these types of shopping centers are a dime a dozen, so I wasn't impressed. I frequent the Target, Harris Teeters and the Borders book store. I also agree with the post about the driving. Drive slow and defensively in the parking lot.
Cute Botiques.
When I first moved to Charlotte 3 years ago, Stonecrest was great. Convienient and is basically a one stop errand shopping center. But over the last 3 years it has become WAY TOO CROWDED.
NOONE knows how to stop at the stop signs or much less know how to use a 4 way stop-sign. And on the weekends if you want to go enjoy a nice night with your husband/spouse/etc... it's FLOCKED by teenagers.
My daughter heard a group of boys saying the word "f---" - and said it in the middle of the restaurant we were eating dinner in. I do wish they would do something about the teenagers taking it over at night on the weekends.
Exactly what a suburban shopping plaza should be..
The Scene
Stonecrest at Piper Glen can hardly be called a strip mall, although it does, technically, consist of rows of stores that open to the outside. Still, the posh factor requires that some other name be used. A clue: "Piper Glen" refers to the nearby Tournament Players Championship golf course--an exclusive, private club that has hosted PGA events.
The Stores
Stonecrest has the usual--Target, Chick-fil-A, movies--as well as a bevy of small, independent stores that stock clothes and home accessories you won't find just anywhere. One whole section is devoted to children's stores, making it easy for mom to shop without schlepping all around the parking lot. Notable restaurants include Firebird's Rocky Mountain Grill and Qdoba Mexican Grill. There's also a fine selection of spas and beauty salons for days when even buying new clothes won't make you feel beautiful.
Upscale at its best!. I love Stoncrest! Great shops (shoes, clothing, food, restaurants etc) in a beautifully landscaped and upscale setting. The fountain at Dean & Deluca's is great to sit at and chat with friends.
