Best Used Cd Store in Charlotte. Repo Records & Collectibles

Opened in 1988.

Jimmy Repo Named the store from the movie Repo Man movie. He started in the music business in 1972.He worked in various One-Stops wharehouses in Charlotte & Atlanta. In 1988 he moved his personal inventory and started Repo Records ,Repo Cd's & Repo Cheapo.In 1994 the store was grossing over 1.25 Million.Napster, downlodes,burning and sharing music begin a slow spiral of the whole music business. He sold anything from backstage passes to old Playboys.At one time he even sold Kiss Pinball machines.You could buy sell and get credit for New,Used or trade LP's,cassettes,VHS,DVD's and Cd's for more musicHe was the 1st store to buy a cd buffing machine.#6 from the Cd Repairman co. That was perfect for reshining used Cd's,DVD & games.Sometimes it was almost like "Pawn Stars" the TV show. Some really strange folks passed through these doors with so many hard luck stories & some strange "stolen" ones too.Some of his old employees went on to open there own stores.Lin Benfield open a dance 12" D.J. store "Central Records,Joe & Jeff Young opened Repo Depot in Lenoir and J.J tried his best to make a go of it."Bless his heart".He Didn't have the funds or the connections to survive the poor sales to compete with the "King of the Mom & Pop" & Repo's wide inventory & knowledge.

Robert D. Raeford,Mojo Nixion,Jim Rose and the Circus sideshow & Rev. Billy C. Wirtz filmed for late nite TV.TJ Bryant started eBay for Jimmy and that was just a band-aid. All the big brick and mortar stores, mall stores closed.Repo kept going till the Big Box stores finally sealed our fate. Even now there are only a few Mom & Pop stores open.In 2005 Repo closed it's retail doors. Repo is now totally internet now selling LP's only on Gemm & Musicstack. He is doing recordshows with Greg Neal in Charlotte.Greg got Jimmy into traveling around the southeast Greenville,Atlanta & Asheville-see recordshows of america to see local dates.The Charlotte Observer did a GREAT write-up for the closing.Our Local Rag Creative Didn't even print a word after He won way over 25 "Best of awards"He is now a happy father and Landlord living the life and loving it.Jimmy is still buying classic used LP's in quanity. don't even waste your time or his if you don't have at least 100 to 1000 for him to purchase. He knows his music.Don't go looking the resale price and expect to get it. I buy cheap and sell cheap. Goodwill them if the covers or the vinyl is worn.704-661-1764

Repo has enjoyed a long reputation as the best used-record store in Charlotte. With a specialty in rock and roll and R&B, the store has become a vital resource for all music fans wanting to beat skyrocketing CD prices. As the years have gone by, Repo has also steadily expanded into other products, including videos, laserdiscs, DVDs, posters and adult magazines.

In keeping with its recycling motif, Repo has the only CD rebuffing machine in Charlotte. A few seconds in this contraption will make even the most worn-out CD look new again. It also works for computer games, Playstations or any standard sized disc.
